Adopting
a Kitten from IconicSX
The IconicSX® Breeding Programme
IconicSX is a small, health-focused Sphynx breeding programme based in the United Kingdom.
Our goal is not simply to produce kittens, but to develop carefully selected bloodlines that combine verified genetic health, stable temperament and correct breed type.
All breeding decisions are based on documented health testing, pedigree analysis and long-term genetic balance. Every cat used in the programme is genetically screened and monitored throughout its life to ensure responsible breeding standards.
Because of this approach, only a limited number of kittens are produced each year, and every placement is handled individually to ensure the best possible match between kitten and home.
What you can
expect from us?
1. A verified pedigree Sphynx kitten
You will be purchasing a carefully bred pedigree Sphynx kitten that meets recognised breed standards and comes from selected, health-verified lines.
All IconicSX kittens are raised in a home environment, carefully socialised from an early age and accustomed to normal household life.
Each kitten is registered with GCCF and TICA and comes from pedigrees containing multiple Champion bloodlines.
2. Full genetic transparency
At IconicSX we believe that responsible breeding must be based on verified scientific data and complete transparency.
Every breeding cat in our programme undergoes comprehensive genetic screening covering more than 70 hereditary conditions.
These include conditions such as:
• Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM)
• Congenital Myasthenic Syndrome (CMS)
• Glycogen Storage Disease IV (GSD IV)
• Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD)
• Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA)
• Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency (PK-Def)
• Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA)
• and other relevant genetic conditions.
In addition, every breeding cat and kitten in our programme is tested for the DBE (Dominant Blue Eye) gene, ensuring full transparency of the genetic status of our lines.
Copies of the parents’ and kittens’ health test results are provided to new owners.
Our breeding cats are selected only when they are clear of known disease-causing mutations currently detectable through modern genetic screening.
3. Veterinary care and development
Each kitten receives careful veterinary supervision throughout its development.
This includes:
• routine veterinary examinations
• age-appropriate vaccinations
• preventative parasite treatments
• a full veterinary health check before leaving the cattery.
Every kitten leaves with 5 weeks free insurance with Agria .
4. Responsible placement policy
All kittens placed as companions leave the cattery already spayed or neutered under a strict non-breeding agreement.
This ensures responsible population control and protects the integrity of our breeding programme.
Breeding cats are offered only to selected and approved catteries under separate contractual agreements.
5. Appropriate early development
Our kittens leave for their new homes no earlier than 16 weeks of age.
This allows time for:
• proper socialisation with their mother and littermates
• completion of early vaccinations
• behavioural development and confidence building.
We never release kittens earlier than this stage.
6. Health warranty
IconicSX provides a 3-year Health Warranty covering confirmed hereditary defects, including Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) diagnosed by a certified veterinary cardiologist.
As part of maintaining this warranty, the cat must undergo cardiac ultrasound screening (echocardiography) performed by a qualified veterinary cardiologist during the 3-year warranty period.
This monitoring supports responsible long-term health management and early detection of potential cardiac conditions.
The warranty remains valid provided that the cat:
• receives appropriate veterinary care
• is maintained under proper living and nutritional conditions
• remains under the ownership terms defined in the Sale Agreement.
7. Lifelong breeder support
Every IconicSX kitten comes with lifelong breeder support.
We remain available to assist owners with:
• health and veterinary guidance
• nutrition and care
• behavioural advice
• and general support throughout the cat’s life.
Responsible breeding means standing behind every cat we bring into the world.
8. Reservation and deposit policy
Reservations for kittens may be accepted from approximately 5 weeks of age, once the kittens are developing well and their early evaluation has begun.
To secure a kitten, a reservation deposit of 50% of the kitten purchase price is required.
This deposit is non-refundable, as the kitten is then removed from availability and reserved exclusively for the buyer.
If the buyer decides not to proceed after placing the reservation, the deposit will not be returned.
In the unlikely event that a kitten cannot be placed due to serious health concerns or unforeseen circumstances on our side, all payments made will be fully refunded, or the reservation may be transferred to a future litter if both parties agree.
9.Formal documentation and invoicing
IconicSX operates as a legally registered business in the United Kingdom, and all transactions are conducted formally and transparently.
Once a kitten is reserved, the buyer receives an official invoice confirming the kitten purchase price and reservation details.
After the deposit has been received, the buyer is also provided with a separate confirmation of deposit payment.
The invoice includes:
• the date of issue
• the buyer’s name and address
• full identification details of the kitten (name, colour, microchip number where applicable, and parents)
• the total kitten purchase price and payment record.
Before leaving the cattery, every kitten is provided with complete documentation, including:
• pedigree registration
• veterinary health certificate
• vaccination record
• microchip identification
• 5 weeks insurance with Agria,
and a written Sale Agreement outlining the terms of purchase.
10. Visits and collection
The cattery operates by appointment only.
We strongly encourage personal collection of your kitten whenever possible. This allows new owners to meet us, see the environment in which the kittens are raised, and ensures a smooth transition for the kitten to its new home.
If visiting the cattery is not possible, we offer dedicated travel arrangements to ensure that your kitten is transported safely and comfortably.
For longer distances or international placements, arrangements can be made for accompany the kitten on a flight and deliver it directly to you.
All transport arrangements are organised individually and additional costs will apply.
11. Kitten Placement
At IconicSX we produce very limited litters, focusing on health verification, genetic transparency and correct breed type rather than quantity.
Each kitten represents years of careful breeding decisions, extensive health testing and continuous monitoring of our lines.
For this reason, the placement of our kittens reflects the level of investment in health, genetics and responsible breeding.
Companion kittens are typically placed from £1800.
Kittens from our DBE (Dominant Blue Eye) breeding programme are typically placed from £2200, depending on phenotype and individual evaluation.
Odd-eyed kittens, which occur less frequently within the line, may occasionally be available and are priced individually upon enquiry.
Our placement reflects the level of care and verification behind every IconicSX kitten, including:
• over 70 genetic health tests performed on each breeding parent - all are clear
• DBE genetic testing for all breeding cats and kittens in our programme
• annual cardiac health screening
• BAER hearing testing where applicable
• kittens raised in a home environment with careful early socialisation.
Breeding Cats (Approved Catteries Only)
Breeding cats from IconicSX are offered only in exceptional circumstances and exclusively to carefully selected, established catteries.
Each enquiry is evaluated individually with consideration given to breeding knowledge and ethics, genetic standards and compatibility with the long-term goals of our DBE breeding programme.
Breeding placements are not determined by demand or price. Selection is based on:
• health status and long-term genetic stability
• pedigree compatibility and COI balance
• temperament and behavioural suitability for breeding
• compliance with recognised breed standards
• overall type and the potential contribution of the cat to the future of the Sphynx breed and DBE lines.
Our breeding cats originate from carefully developed lines and include show-proven animals, Champions, or direct offspring of Champions registered with GCCF and TICA.
For this reason, breeding cats are offered only to catteries that demonstrate:
• ethical breeding practices
• transparent pedigree and record keeping
• commitment to health testing and verification standards.
All breeding placements are arranged privately and handled under an individual contract and a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).
Pricing is determined individually and reflects the genetic value of the cat, health status, pedigree strength and level of documentation provided.
Approved breeders are also given access to ongoing cooperation within our breeding programme, including guidance and support in key aspects of responsible breeding.
This may include:
• consultation on pairing decisions and long-term breeding strategy
• assistance with COI calculation and pedigree compatibility analysis
• guidance in selecting appropriate stud cats or queens
• support with maintaining genetic balance within breeding lines
• advice regarding health monitoring, testing protocols and record keeping.
In selected cases, approved breeding partners may also be offered the opportunity to work in closer cooperation with the IconicSX® breeding programme.
Depending on the breeding plan and long-term goals of the programme, this may include:
• the possibility to operate under or alongside the IconicSX® breeding lines
• access to extended breeding guidance and programme support
• collaboration on future breeding plans and genetic development
• in certain cases, regional placement agreements, where a partner breeder may represent specific IconicSX® lines within a defined territory.
Such arrangements are considered individually and are offered only to breeders who demonstrate a strong commitment to ethical breeding, transparency, and long-term cooperation.
Our goal is to protect the integrity of our breeding programme while building trusted international partnerships that contribute positively to the future of the Sphynx breed.
12. Sales Contract
It is important to read the Sale Agreement carefully for full details and important information.
A draft of the contract will be provided before a reservation is made.
Ownership of the kitten or cat remains with IconicSX until the animal is resident with the new owner.
The kitten or cat may not be sold, transferred or rehomed without our written permission, as outlined in the Sale Agreement and must be spayed prior rehoming if was sold with breeding rights.
13. Payments
Payments are accepted via bank transfer only.
We do not accept cash or PayPal under any circumstances.
For international placements, the full kitten purchase price and any delivery costs must be paid in advance, before travel arrangements and ownership transfer are initiated.
14. Responsible purchasing
Kittens and cats are living beings with unique personalities and needs. They are not products and should never be treated as such. For this reason, there is no cooling-off period after purchase, and consumer “returns and refunds” policies do not apply to the sale of animals.
We strongly encourage prospective owners to make an informed and thoughtful decision before purchasing a kitten, as animals require long-term commitment and care.
Any surrender or rehoming of a cat originating from our cattery will be handled strictly under the terms outlined in the Sale Agreement.
15. Availability
At IconicSX we breed rarely and selectively. We retain the most promising kittens to develop our breeding programme and future lines. Occasionally, high-quality older kittens or young adults may become available. Please contact us to enquire about current availability or to be placed on the waiting list.
